So I’ve been reading Umberto Eco’s new novel, The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana, a book that has definitely been influenced by the creation of hypertext. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you should (I say that even though I haven’t finished the whole thing, which is very unusual for me).
I’ve been a fan of Eco’s since I first read Foucault’s Pendulum in the late 1980s. And of course the movie version of The Name of the Rose is one of the more underrated films made in that decade.
Let me just suggest that for this one, they wait about thirty years to make the movie and then cast Guy Pearce.

I’ve got it next in my reading queue. Just finishing up Kazuo Ishiguro’s latest. Can’t wait to read Signor Eco’s newest. I’ve been a huge fan since Name of the Rose and Foucoult’s Pendulum. No wonder they call him the Grandfather of Italian Fiction.
How is it? Are you loving it? Wait…don’t tell me.

I DOOOO love the hotel beds… I don’t know why.. and room service… but I think I would not like travelling for work. I hope you get it over with without too many hassles and you are soon back home for a while!!

Metrodad, it’s a great read–how’s the Ishiguro? That’s on my list too.
Tiff–thanks!

The Ishiguro’s great. Finished it yesterday. Slightly offbeat subject matter but beautifully written. The man sure knows how to craft a good sentence.

Thanks for the review. I have never read any books by Signor Eco. This one sounds good.

Tiffany–thanks for asking, it’s still crazy, as I am going out of town later this week, then we are going away for the weekend, and then I have to leave again for three days after we get back. It is REALLLLY unusual for me to travel this much for work, and it’s stressful (although also fun to sleep in hotel beds and always eat out).
