scenes from a slumber party…
So the slumber party was a success, despite the ups-and-downs leading to it. There was a Barbie movie (shudder) with 3D glasses, no less. There was insane giggling. There were several balloon fights. There were declarations of best friend status. There was staying up way too late (although not all night, as they were trying to do), and then getting up way too early and eating pancakes for breakfast (thanks Landisdad!). There was (sadly) a moment where the Potato sat outside the Bee’s door, as she held it closed and he sobbed, “be(ing) mean!”. (And yes, the Bee had to hold her door closed, because I still haven’t gotten her a new one.) There was dress-up in abundance. There were goody bags.
The girl who wasn’t going to stay over ended up going home at around 9:30 p.m. The girl who was showing up late left after lunch, with the cupcake that I didn’t let her eat last night wrapped up in plastic. The Bee and the Potato are both now napping (fingers crossed!). The parents are collapsed on the couch, wishing they could nap too.
I’d post pictures, but I’ve learned from Melissa’s cautionary tale not to do that without other parents’ permission. Suffice it to say that there was a lot of cuteness, most of it dressed in pink pajamas.

Congrats on a successful slumber party. I’m glad things went well!
We have a picture of Meredith lying in our hallway trying to look under the door of the guest room where Abby and her best friend were listening to music. It was so sad! But I know how important it is to let each child have their time with their own friends but it always seems that the younger one gets the short end of the stick.

Glad it was a success! Perhaps one day you’ll get the images of a 3-D Barbie movie out of your head.

oh, poor little sweetpotato! I can just see him, because my son BK really just loved being with his sister when he was that age, and would be so sad when he was excluded from things like that, it breaks your heart…
Glad it went well, and interesting how pancakes seem to be the universal sleepover breakfast!

What *shudder* Barbi movie is that? My 2 oldest keep yammering about some “Pegasus” movie although I have to admit that I got over their affection for the Barbi “Swan Lake” movie when it got them into Tchaikovsky.
Interesting, all these September babies… something to do with New Years?

Jim, I’ve got bad news for you–it’s the Pegasus movie. And no redeeming Tchaikovsky either (at least, I didn’t hear any before my eyes started bleeding and I fled the room).
I think in our case, it was Christmas, not New Year’s, but she was overdue, too.
