…and a Potato progress report, too

November 17, 2005 at 5:07 pm (growing up)

This morning, when landisdad dropped the Potato off at daycare, his teacher stopped to chat with him for a bit about how well the boy is doing in class. They had a few minutes of conversation, and then she said,

“yeah, he’s so smart, when we color with crayons, he NEVER eats them!”

I about fell off my chair when I heard it. I guess the toddler bar is set pretty low.

Low, and yet my daughter still cannot jump over it. Tonight, for example, she colored the inside of her tongue with a marker before I realized what she was doing.

Yay for the Potato and his keen ability to discern food from crayon.

I had a similar moment a year ago when my then-17-month-old’s daycare teacher told me “he knows how to do something NONE of the other kids do - eat a popsicle the RIGHT way!”. (you know, like a corn cob, across and then down)

    Uh, thanks.
