another great moment in parenting
I thought about password-protecting this post, but I decided against it. You might all need to chip in for therapy for my son, though.
Today, the Potato wore underpants to daycare, a first for my boy. For those of you who are not yet at the potty-training moment (or who are too far past it to care), this, my friends, is a big deal. He also brought with him a bag containing 4 more pairs of underpants and pants, for the inevitable accidents. And yes, he came home wearing outfit #5, without socks on, because his neglectful mommy forgot that sometimes, pee gets on feet. Also, a totally different shirt. I'm not really sure how that happened, I guess it's a guy thing.
Still, I'm tremendously excited, because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The tunnel that makes the whole upstairs of my house smell awful. I realize that it may take another year until we're diaper-free forever, but we're getting there.
When the Bee was potty training, she contracted shigellosis. Not only did this charming bacteria cause us to keep her out of daycare for three weeks (and oh, thanks Department of Health for posting that notice on the door–I knew just how Typhoid Mary must have felt), it caused her to, how shall I say this, regress. I'm hopeful that the Potato stays away from the bad hot dogs.

Oh yes, I remember pee on feet, and shoes, and carpets, and chairs.
Good for Potato. I think there are probably more embarrassing stories than this you could have told. I doubt he’ll need too much therapy…

Is it wrong that I’m planning to let Sam stay in diapers until he’s old enough for me to explain the principles of bladder and bowel control to him… say, when he’s 17 or 18?

Awww, bless. It’s a big step! We’ve only got to the ’sitting Isaac on the potty / toilet every now and then so he’s not scared of it’ stage so II’m just SO excited about what’s to come up next. Um. Maybe excited isn’t the right word…

OOHHHH and the potty trianing. Oh so sorry. Yes, Bubba and I went through this as well. Potty training was hard but I did it at 3 and that worked. They are all so different. I have a friend who potty trained her kid by 2, BY 2!

The pee does get everywhere! Good for the Potato. I’m looking forward to being diaper-free, too. Someday!

I just gave up trying to potty train my little one (he’ll be THREE this summer) for the third or fourth time. Oh nothing makes me feel less patient than pee getting all over the house… I decided that when the weather is a little warmer and we’re all home for the summer I’m REALLY going to do it.

At least you remembered the changes of outfit! Socks can be done without.

Oh hurray, and congratulations to the Potato! I have to admit, being done with diapers is one of the blessings I remember to count.

I have started … and stopped this journey many times. I just don’t know if my daughter is ready yet. I even posted about it asking for advice. I am dreading the big day when it’s buh bye diapers and I’ll have to start lugging around 4 pairs of everything. Hope the rest of the journey goes well!

Dry nights is the next biggie. Socks….or bedsheets. A real no brainer!
